Is Intermittent Fasting A New Type of Diet

Is intermittent fasting a new type of diet

First let me start by saying I don’t believe in diets of any kind. I believe you can eat almost anything in moderation. There are some things I don’t eat at all but I’ll save that list for another day. I’m here to give my opinion about intermittent fasting. What is it, how does it work why you should try it or not.  Well, it’s currently an eating trend circulating in the health and fitness industry. I’ve seen several stories on it from several news media outlets. I’ve also read a lot of different articles on the pros and cons of eating this way.   There are different methods of intermittent fasting although is has some health benefits everyone can’t do intermittent fasting. You should speak with your doctor in detail before you try this eating method.

Intermittent Fasting Journey

This program has been getting a lot of media attention. The latest fads are trends usually don’t interest me, but this one peaked my interest and I decided to give it a try. I decided to try the easiest and most common method of daily 16 hour fasting. During the 8 hour window I ate regular healthy meals. My fasting journey lasted 30 days. I started my journey on July 1st and finished it on July 31st. I read that women should do the 12 to 14 hour fast instead of the 16 hours. At the end of my fasting journey, I lost 4.5 pounds, 3 inches off my waistline and 2 inches off my hips. It was hard in the first 3 days because I’m a big breakfast eater and most of my workouts are done in the mornings. I chose eating schedule from 11-7 for my 8 hour window because I don’t eat a lot in the evenings.

Once I completed the fast, I felt lighter, more energized. I wasn’t as sluggish or tired at the end of the day. It made me more aware of what I was eating throughout the day and I quickly adjusted to not mindlessly snacking in the the evenings. In the end I was satisfied with my results of weight loss and feeling better. Moving forward I think I will stop eating and snacking at a designated time, eat my breakfast a little later in the day and see how the intermittent fasting can be incorporated into my regular busy lifestyle.
